26.07.2006 - On this day marked another milestone between Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Aesculap Academy, B.Braun Singapore with the signing of Memorandum of Understanding. This agreement establishes an unprecedented affiliation with the Department of Anaesthesiology to provide and jointly conduct Regional Anaesthesia Training Courses that will benefit the medical practitioners in the region.
Anesthesiology education has seen a number of changes in the past decade. The number of high-quality scientific publications in regional anaesthesia has significantly grown over the past decade, and new techniques and procedures have been introduced. With this in mind, a structured and well-defined training curriculum with a dedicated team of pain specialists is all prerequisite for the adequate training of participants.
Recent invited guest faculty at our first workshop was Prof. Dr. H. Hinrich Mehrkens, Head, Dept of Anaesthesiology & Intensive Care, Orthopaedic & Neurologic Clinic of Ulm University, Germany. The hands-on ultrasound training on live models allowed participants to observe technique landmarks and approaches. For the next workshop, do look out for the above publication.
